THE POINT MAN (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 2Cor.5:16-18

More Scriptures: Ps.27:4, Ps.42:2, Gen.18:19

Yesterday, the Holy Spirit helped us to recognize that as the heads of our families, we are point men. Today, let us look at the first positional relationship that a point man has. It is the position in God. The Scripture says, if any man be in Christ (2Cor.5:17). So, you are a point man in Christ- having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. You are the light of your family (Matt.5:16). You are a city that is set upon the hill that cannot be hidden. Your life as the head of your family should point your wife and children to Christ. You must recognize that you have power with God and you must exercise same at home. Your wife and children should see and read the Person of Jesus in your life-conduct and content. Just like in every game of life where everyone in the team looks up to the point man as a reflection of the coach, so also should your sheep.

God has great plans for your wife and children and sheepfold. God wants to express it to them through you. For through you shall the families of the earth be blessed (Gen.12:1-3). Remember that as the head of your family, you actually represent the nature of the Godhead in your sheepfold. He is the Head of the whole world, so are you the head of your family. He represents everything good and righteous, so are you to your wife and children.

But how do I uphold my relationship with Jesus and radiate His glory in the lives of my sheep? First, you must daily desire Him more than food, drink, shelter and even life. In Psalms 27:4, the Scripture says, one thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. As the good and godly shepherd, your desire for God and His works must be strong enough to make you forsake everything else. The second is that you must thirst for Him desperately. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God, when shall I come and appear before God? (Ps.42:1-2). Your love for God and the works of Jesus must be your driving force for leading your wife and children. As a point man, your wife and children and indeed the world are waiting for the manifestation of your headship. You cannot afford to fail God, your wife and children.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, take me deeper in love with You and hold me close to Your heart.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to love You with the whole of my heart, soul, body and spirit.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, put a burning desire to thirst after You all day long.

FAITH CONFESSION

I desire to be in love with Jesus Christ, and extend same to my wife and children and the world because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
