Main Scriptures: Rom.4:20-21

More Scriptures: Rom.8:38-39, Ps.62:8, Matt.6:22

He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief but was strong in faith, he was also able to perform. And being fully persuaded that what he had promised he was able also to perform (Rom.4:20-21). Every time I read this Scripture, it gives me hope and assures me that there is no hopeless case with God. Faith in God can change any wife or child, no matter how bad the case may be. But it would take a fully persuaded husband to get God to do a good and quick work in the lives of his irresponsible wife and children. Your faith in God can change your wife from a stubborn, disobedient woman to a submissive and obedient woman. Your faith in God can equally transform your rebellious child or children to humble and faithful seeds. The power to make the changes happen is in your hands.

The husband of Sarah was fully persuaded that what God promised concerning them- that is to give them the promised child against all known medical and common sense verdict-will come to pass. Abraham did not stagger at what God had promised, notwithstanding the obvious situation. He held on to God and His word even when it didn’t make sense. That is what God wants you to do-to hold onto the promises of God for your wife and children, even when there seems to be no sign of a positive change.

Now, what does it mean to be persuaded? It means to be convinced beyond doubt on the basis of truth. So, as the husband and leader of your family, you can be convinced beyond what you see or hear or think on the basis of God’s word that your flock can be beautified by the life of Christ. Sometimes, you may have prayed and fasted and even given to ensure that your flock change from bad to good, yet it appears you are not getting the results that you desire. Don’t give up on them. Don’t bow down your head in defeat. Don’t conclude on your situation that there is no hope. If you can just believe like Abraham did, you are sure to experience the promises of God for your wife and children. Just one force is required- undying faith, not in your abilities, experiences, status or even age, but in God and His word. Say like David, trust in him at all times, ye people, pour out your heart before him, God is a refuge for us (Ps.62:8). For the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous man avails much. You are a rescue agent. Make it count!

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to trust You every step of the way.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every spirit of discouragement and fear.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to pray aright for my flock.

I put my trust in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ  and the word of God in my Bible for the salvation and rescue of my wife and children because it is my heritage as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
