COME ON IN, ALL THINGS ARE READY

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Lk.14:16-17

More Scriptures: 2Cor.5:17, Matt.5:16,

Then said he unto him, a certain man made a great supper and bade many, and he sent his servant at supper time to say to then that were bidden (invited), come, for all things are now ready Lk.14:16-17).

The above Scripture is not only illustrative of divine wisdom, it also speaks about the assurance followers get when their leaders honestly invite them for fellowship. The Bible passage was about Jesus Christ telling the parable about a rich man who prepared a great supper and invited many to come because all things were ready. That is everything that the guests would need is available and everyone who came to the banquet was satisfied.

And the Holy Spirit is asking you these questions. Have you made all things ready for your wife and children? Can they come to you and be satisfied spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically and financially? Infact, if you invite your wife and children, would they come? Do you have what it takes to be like that certain man in our Bible passage today? These are questions that you must ask yourself and challenge yourself to become as the godly man, husband and father to your wife and children. It is important to note that you have a mandate from God to operate an open-door policy towards your wife and children, after the order of Jesus Christ, the perfect example of a good and godly husband. The word of God says of Him, come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest (Matt.11:28). The Bible also tells us that He is the way, the truth and the life (Jn.14:6). As a husband, every invitation to your sheep is an invitation to goodwill.

However, you cannot invite your wife and children to a great supper until you have prepared one because you cannot give what you don’t have. This means that you have to feed yourself with the knowledge of the person, power and Spirit of Jesus Christ as the Bridegroom of the Church. Your life must have been so transformed that everyone would see Jesus through you (Matt.5:14-16). You cannot invite your wife and children when you don’t have anything to offer. Do you want them to come to the dinner of respect and diligence? Then demonstrate that you respect and honour them and that you have respect for others, and you are diligent. Do you want them to come to dinner with you and enjoy a righteous walk? Then you must live out your right standing with God that they can see and testify of. Do you want them to come to dinner and partake of love for God and good conscience? Then you must be a passionate lover of God and His works on the earth. You must first be all that you want your wife and children to come and partake of at the banquet. Ye are the SALT of the earth..(Matt.5:14-16). So, be the dinner that you want to offer your wife and children.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to deliver on my covenant responsibilities as the godly husbandman.
  • Father, in the name of Jesus, deliver me from every form of irresponsibility.
  • Father, in the name of Jesus, help me to walk in the fullness of Your will for my life.

FAITH CONFESSION

I reflect the very life of Jesus Christ in me and through me so that my life will make the necessary impact on my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.

If you read the whole story, you see that the man had prepared everything. When he sent his servant to bring those that were invited, they began making excuses not to attend the dinner. So it is what is in people’s hearts that determines whether they will come when invited, and not so much in the preparation. I can agree that no one wants to sit with an angry bitter person, but all we can do is prepare. We don’t get to determine who comes.

“But He said to him, “A man was giving a big dinner, and he invited many; and at the dinner hour he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come; for everything is ready now.’ But they all alike began to make excuses. The first one said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of land and I need to go out and look at it; please consider me excused.’ Another one said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; please consider me excused.’ Another one said, ‘I have married a wife, and for that reason I cannot come.’ And the slave came back and reported this to his master. Then the head of the household became angry and said to his slave, ‘Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and lame.’ And the slave said, ‘Master, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.’ And the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled. For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste of my dinner.’ ””
