LIVE AN ORDERLY LIFE

Spread the love

Bible Texts: 1Cor.11:30-34, 2Cor.7:1, Col.1:19, Heb.11:3, Eph.5:25, Eph.6:4, Gen.17:1, Jos.24:15, 1Tim.3:1-4

Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another. And if any man hunger, let him eat at home, that ye come not together unto condemnation. AND THE REST WILL I SET IN ORDER when I come (1Cor.11:30-33)

I want you to know that as the good and godly shepherd, God wants to bless you. God wants to make you a successful leader. God wants you to lead your wife and children in the way of the Lord. God wants to prosper your office as the head of the family. But He wants you to do one very important thing. God wants you to put your life in order.

The testimony of Elijah, during the contest with the prophets of Baal speaks to the importance of putting things in order to enjoy the fullness of God’s blessing as the good and godly husbandman. The contest was whose God was real. Was it the god of Baal or the God of Israel? Prophet Elijah set the altar in order and the fire came down from heaven and consumed the sacrifice and established that the God of Israel is the true God.

As the head of your family, order is a necessary target you must set in your life and in your family government. Where there is no order, there will be chaos (Gen.1:1). And where there is chaos, there will be no progress. You must appreciate your position in your family-you are their head, the spiritual leader, a kingdom administrator, a governor, king and lord (Eph.5:25, Jos.24:15, Eph.6:4, 1Tim.3:2-4).

What this means is that the success or failure of your family government depends on how much order you have put in your life and in your sheepfold. For instance, it is not orderly when you stir up strife and bitterness in the hearts of your children against their mother or vice versa. It is not orderly when you disobey the instructions of Scriptures for you. You are the driver. You must exercise control over what you think, say and do. This will help you to keep your life and that of your wife, children and home in perfect peace.

But how do I set my life and that of my sheepfold in order? There are two things that you must do. And it is from 2nd Corinthians chapter 7 and verse 1. Having therefore these promises, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God (2Cor.7:1). The first is that you must cleanse your thoughts from every form of filthiness by the word of God and keep your body from engaging in sinful act. Secondly, you must walk worthy of the Lord in all you do and say (Col.1:19), using the Bible as your guide (Jn.5:39). Thirdly, you must engage the weapon of praise, prayer and fasting (Mk.9:29). And finally, you must walk by faith, trusting that God rewards those who walk uprightly (Heb.11:1-6).

Put your life in order.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to set my life in order for Your visitation.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to lead my wife and children according to Your word.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, visit my life, wife and children and my home with Your blessings.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have decided to set my life and sheepfold in order for the blessings of the Lord to be poured on us because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
