Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this BOOK OF INSTRUCTION CONTINUALLY. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do (Jos.1:7-8) NLT

A lot of the time as husbandmen, we deceive ourselves in thinking that we can make the most of our headship by the rule of the thumb rather than by reading, studying and practicing the word of God. So, the result is what you find in our family folds today- husbandmen who have lost their voices, power and influence.

As the good and godly husbandman, you cannot be greater than what you know and you are prepared to apply yourself to. You cannot command positive influence in the lives of your wife and children beyond the knowledge of God you know and that is at work in your life. In James chapter 1 and verse 25, the word of God says this. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed (Jas.1:25).

Everything you need to know about the will of God for your life as the husbandman and how you are commanded to relate with your wife and children is contained in the Bible. You only need to own a Bible, study it continually, meditate on the word and practice the word.

The Bible is your manual of instruction and direction. It helps you to overcome errors as the man, husband and father. It gives guidance on how you can relate with your wife and children as Jesus Christ would have. For instance, in Ephesians chapter 5, the word of God says that husband love thy wife as Christ has loved the Church (Eph.5:25). The Bible also teaches you in 1st Peter chapter 3 and verse 7 on how to relate with your wife. If you want to grow as the good and godly husbandman, you must study this word intensely, meditate on it with the whole of your heart and practice it joyfully.

In Ephesians chapter 6 and verse 4, the word of God also teaches you how to relate with your children. It says, fathers nurture your children in the way and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4). Infact, there are so many instructions in the Bible designed by God for your growth, development and profiting as the good and godly man, husband and father.

The perfect will of God for you is to become like Jesus Christ in deed and in words in your roles as the man, husband and father. God wants you to flourish as the head of your family. He wants you to prosper as the husbandman. He wants you to command the respect and honour and loyalty of your wife and children. God wants you to be a leader of influence and affluence (Rev.5:10). But you have the responsibility to study the Book of instruction – the Bible to grow and develop into the full stature of your calling as the husbandman.

Are you ready for the responsibilities, commitment and dedication that accompany your calling as the husbandman?

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the force of ignorance and foolishness.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me the spirit of wisdom and understanding and help me to understand Your instructions.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to obey all Your instructions concerning my role as the husbandman.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give myself to study the Book of Instruction and apply myself to all the instructions contained therein because that is what empowers me to become the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
