GREATLY BLESSED FOR THEIR SAKES

Spread the love

Bible Texts: 1Chro.14:1-2, Mal.3:10, Gen.12:1-3, Lk.6:48, Jas.1:5, Ps.23:1, Eph.2:13, Gal.4:19, Mal.2:5-7, Jer.29:11, Deut.8:18-20

Then king Hiram of Tyre sent messengers to David, along with cedar timber and stonemasons and carpenters to build him a palace. And David realized that the LORD HAD CONFIRMED HIM AS KING OVER ISRAEL AND HAD GREATLY BLESSED HIS KINGDOM FOR THE SAKE OF HIS PEOPLE ISRAEL (1Chro.14:1-2) NLT

From our Bible passage in 1st Chronicles chapter 14 and verses 1 through to 2, the Word of God tells us about the husbandman who was greatly blessed so that he can become a blessing. God blessed David as the king for the sake of the people he was ordained to lead.

You are the king and the person God has ordained to lead your life, wife and children. And God wants to bless you and infact He has already blessed you for the sake of your wife, children and home. This is the truth for you!

And I will make of thee a great nation and I will bless thee and make thy name great and thou shalt be a blessing (Gen.12:2)

God has placed you as the leader of your wife and children for their benefits. This means that all you have and will ever have is for their good and improvement of their well-being. You are not blessed to be a burden to them. You are their leader to be a blessing and you must not derail from this landmark because that is what makes you the good and godly husbandman.

But how do I become blessed and be a blessing to my wife and children?

First, you must develop a covenant relationship with God and walk in it faithfully (2Cor.5:17, Mal.2:5-7, Deut.8:18-21). You shall serve the Lord your God and he shall your bread and water. You must remember that God has blessed you so that you can be a blessing and not a burden to your wife and children. Secondly, you must walk in wisdom in managing the resources that God has blessed you with. The word of God tells us that if anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask and the Lord will give liberally (Jas.1:5-6). You need the wisdom of God at work in your life to effectively and efficiently manage your finances wisely, spend your time profitably and invest your life meaningfully in the lives of your wife and children.

Thirdly, you must be a covenant practitioner by honouring God with your time and finances (3Jn.:2, Jer.29:11). God wants to bless you richly. He wants to keep the windows of heaven opened continually over your life and family. However, you have to activate it by your giving (Mal.3:10, Lk.6:48). Fourthly, you must have a grateful heart towards God at all times and towards your wife and children, irrespective of the circumstances. As you thank God for making you the head of your family and as you celebrate Him for all that He has done for you, He ensures that the blessings you have received from Him are secured and transferrable to your wife and children.

Always remember this today and always. You are the advantage for your wife and children (Gal.4:19). You must make the most of it for them.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a profitable servant to my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to obey all Your instructions faithfully and joyfully.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to apply myself to the wisdom from above so that I can manage my resources well and be a blessing to my life, wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am a blessing and not a burden to my life, my wife and children because that is my heritage as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
