THE GOOD SHEPHERD

Bible Texts: Mark 3:23-27, Jn.10:1-3, Gen.4:2, 1Sam.17:20, 1Chro.19:9, Ps.23;1-2, Eph.6:25, Eph.6:4, 1Cor.13:4-7, Num.6:22-24, Gen.2:14-15

One of the most significant descriptions of the husbandman is a shepherd (Jn.10:1). What he does or doesn’t do as a shepherd is what qualifies if he is the good shepherd or a hireling.

But what makes the husbandman the good and godly shepherd?

The husbandman is the good and godly shepherd who protects his wife, his children and his sheepfold. This is why he is called the strongman.

And he called them unto him and said unto them in parables, how can satan cast out satan? And if a KINGDOM be divided against itself, that KINGDOM cannot stand. And if a HOUSE be divided against itself, that HOUSE cannot stand. And if satan rises up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. NO MAN CAN ENTER INTO A STRONG MAN’S HOUSE, AND SPOIL HIS GOODS, EXCEPT HE WILL FIRST BIND THE STRONG MAN, AND THEN HE WILL SPOIL HIS HOUSE (Mk.3:23-27)

As the good shepherd, you are the strong man. You hold the key to the door of your family kingdom, where your wife and children are citizens. They are the precious gifts God has given to you as the steward. So, you must build a wall of protection and defence around their lives from satan, sin and the world. You must stop sicknesses, rebellion, bitterness, envy, unforgiveness and every unrighteous act from gaining access into your sheepfold. That is the privilege God has bestowed on you.

But for you to manifest the authority of the good shepherd, you must have and remain in Christ, Who is the Good shepherd over your own life as the husbandman (Jn.10:1-3). You must know the Word of God and His provision for your wife and your children so you can detect deceptions and lies that may want to gain access into their lives (2Tim.2:15). You must continue to walk by faith, making your bold declarations based on the Word of God (Jn.5:39, Jn.6:63, Heb.11:6).

Your wife and your children, who are your sheep, are not the problem. The problem is that you have been bound by the forces of satan, sin and the world’s influences, and so they entered and spoiled your wife and your children. You left the door of your sheepfold open.

Now, take your proper place as the stronger man over your sheep and sheepfold and drive away every form of ungodliness in the lives of your wife, your children and your home by the Word of God (Rev.12:15).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from spiritual slumber and awaken me unto spiritual fervency.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to stand strong to defend my sheep and sheepfold.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be forward looking over my sheep and sheepfold.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am the good shepherd, and I keep my sheep and sheepfold safe and secured from the influences of satan, sin and the world because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
