BE WATCHFUL ALWAYS!

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Mk.13:36-37, Am.6:1, Jn.10:1-3, Gal.4:19, Eph.5:16, Matt.26:41, Jn.14:26, Mk.9:29, Hab.2:1, Pro.20:12, Matt.13:16, Philp.4:8

Lest coming suddenly he finds you sleeping. AND WHAT I SAY UNTO YOU I SAY TO ALL, WATCH (Mk.13:36-37)

As the good and godly husbandman, you must be watchful always as you walk the path to becoming the good and godly man, husband, and father; otherwise, you will fall into sin that leads to shame and disgrace (Am.6:1).

As the husbandman, why must I watch over my life, so I remain on the path of the good and godly man, husband and father?

You must watch so that you do not go away from the values and principles of God that build the good and godly husbandman.

You must watch what you think, what you say, what you do, how you respond, how you react, and how you lead yourself, your wife, and your children so that all you do conforms to the perfect will of God for you (Philp.4:8).

You must watch so that you can continue to be the gatekeeper of the sheepfold of God in your custody (Jn.10:1-3).

Now, how do I maintain watchfulness?

By continually studying the Word of God with the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit (Jn.14:26). Each time you read and meditate on the Word, with the Person of the Holy Spirit guiding you, you learn new things and gain fresh revelation. And it is this revealed word that builds your faith to do the perfect will of God as the husbandman.

You also watch by praying for yourself and praying for your wife and your children with the Word of God (Matt.26:41, Gal.4:19). Prayer and intercession empower you to hear when God is speaking and to see what God is showing to you (Matt.13:16).

There are landmines on your path. Satan, sin, and the world put them there with the plan to make you fall, and to steal and destroy your glorious heritage as the good and godly husbandman. You must continually be watchful, using the Word of God as the truth and the light.

Hallelujah!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for being careless in my leadership role as the man, husband and father.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me hearing ears and seeing eyes.
  • Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to exercise power and authority as I watch over my life, wife, children and sheepfold.

FAITH CONFESSION

I stand upon my watch and set myself upon the tower of the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to exercise watchfulness over my life, wife, children and sheepfold because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
