GUARD YOUR LIFE

As the husbandman, God wants you to guard your life by guiding three important aspects of your relationships because they ultimately determine the quality of your life as the good and godly man, husband and father.

Blessed is the man that WALKETH not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor STANDETH in the way of sinners, nor SITTETH in the seat of the scornful (Ps.1:1)

The Word of God mentions three important decisions we must make every day as we walk the path to becoming the good and godly husbandman. The Scripture says, ” Walk not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful. This is because who you walk with and where you go will ultimately influence your life either for God or for unrighteousness.

As the husbandman, you must not walk with or listen to those who give you ungodly counsel that is contrary to the word of God, no matter their status (Eph.5:25, 1Pet.3:7-9, Eph.6:4, Rom.12:21, Gal.4:19).

You must not stand with those men or be in relationships that lead you to lie, cheat, steal, disobey godly rules, abuse your body, and cause you to take ungodly actions. Even when you realize you’re wrong and try to correct them by doing the will of God, these men will discourage you from doing the right thing.

You must also avoid relationships or people that influence you to make mockery of the commandments and instructions of God for you as the godly man, husband and father. They make you think there is nothing wrong with living a life that does not please God and steal the fear of God from your heart.

But how do I overcome these ungodly influences and create godly boundaries in my life as the good and godly husbandman?

By engaging the weapons of the Word of God, prayer, and fasting. These spiritual forces empower you to develop the courage to embrace godliness and cultivate good and godly relationships, and set godly boundaries (Ps.1:2, Mk.9:29, Lk.18:1, Jos.1:6-8, 1Cor.15:33). The spiritual weapons of prayer and fasting also empower you with supernatural boldness to refuse evil counsel, no matter who is giving it (Dan.1:8).

God has called you and made you the husbandman. God wants you to be intentional about your righteous walk with Him, so you must watch the relationships you keep by defining who you walk with, your values, and where you go, using the Word of God as your standard.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, have mercy upon me for walking, standing and sitting with ungodly influences.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the spirit of courage to refuse ungodly influences in my life.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to always honour and obey all Your instructions as the man, husband and father.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am made in the image and likeness of God, and I walk, stand and sit with godly influence because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.

Lord, Jesus, I come to you today, just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
