LET THIS MIND BE IN YOU

Today’s teaching begins with a statement from the Word of God. And I want to turn it to a question. What kind of mind must you have that will please God and influence your thoughts, actions, and conduct towards living like the good and godly husbandman? This is the answer.

Let this mind be in you, even the mind of Christ (Philp.2:5)

The Word of God says that the mind you must have is the mind of Christ. But what does it mean to have the mind of Christ? To have the mind of Christ means that your life must not only agree with all the commandments of Scripture, but also your thoughts must yield completely to the Word of God.

And to help you test if your mind aligns with the Word of Jesus, any time you want to think or act, ask this question, “What will Jesus Christ do in this matter and in this circumstance?” This will help you develop your thought life as the man, husband, and father to think as Christ would.

But for you to have and keep developing your mind to think like Christ will think and act according to the instructions of Jesus, you must have and maintain a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ (Jn.3:4-8, 2Cor.5:17).

You must continue to feed your mind with good and godly books, songs, and even mind the relationships you keep, because these are what feed into your mind and help it grow (1Cor.15:33).

You must continue to engage the forces of prayer and fasting so you can be empowered by the Holy Ghost to enforce good and godly thoughts in your mind while refusing evil thoughts or imagination that wants to gain root in your mind (Ps.51:10, Mk.9:29, Mk.14:38, Jn.14:26, Gal.4:19)

As the husbandman, having the mind of Christ is what makes you act like Christ will act toward your wife, your children, and in the marketplace. And this is what makes you the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for allowing ungodly relationships into my life and thinking like the world.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from ungodly relationships, influences and resources.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to always feed my mind with Your words of wisdom, knowledge and understanding.

FAITH CONFESSION

I guard my mind with all diligence and protect it from the influences of satan, sin and the world and allow only the word of God to influence my thought and actions because I am on a journey to becoming the good and godly man, husband and father in Jesus name. Amen.

Prayer of Salvation/Rededication

Now that you have read the devotional, you need to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ (1Tim.2:4). It is the first step in your walk of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Please, pray this prayer of salvation in faith.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
