TAKE YOUR FIRM STAND IN THE LORD

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Philippians 4:1

More Scriptures: Pro.14:12, Jos.24:15, Gen.18:19

Let me ask you this question and I encourage you to answer sincerely. Where do you stand in times of challenges? Do you stand in the Lord God Almighty or in your skill or money? This is so important because the husbandman has enormous expectations. And these expectations are genuine. God, your wife and children and the community has deliverables for you from three angles. Firstly, as the man. Secondly, as the husband and thirdly, as the father. Each of these personalities has their peculiar functions. A lot of the times, the husbandman is overwhelmed by these responsibilities and so he begins to seek for alternatives and solutions outside of God. Assuredly, the path chosen by the shepherd outside of God leads to frustration, discontentment and death. For there is a way that seems right but the end of it is death (Pro.14:12).

So, this is why the Scripture today is very critical for your survival and success as the godly husbandman. God wants you to stand fast not in your skills, money or size but in Him. When the challenges of your leadership role throw themselves up at you, you must deliberately choose to trust God and run to Him for help. You must understand that God does not desire you to fail as the head of your family. God also is aware that these challenges would show up. But long before you became the husband and head of your family, He has made a way of escape for You through Christ.

Now, what does it mean for you stand fast in the Lord? It simply means to make God your present help in times of trouble. It also means to take God at His word. And finally, it means to keep your eyes focused on God and His ability to save and deliver. However, for you to stand fast in Him, you must be prepared to do the following. The first is that you must have a personal and not corporate relationship with the Person of Jesus Christ. You must be born again (see inside cover of this devotional for prayer of salvation). Secondly, you must make time out of your busy schedule to study the word of God and meditate on it. You can reprioritize your activities and allocate sometime to think on Scriptures. Study to show yourself approved as the workman who is not ashamed…….(2Timothy 2:15). And thou shall meditate upon it day and night and thou shall make good success (Joshua 1:8). When you combine studying and meditating, you become filled with revelation and that is what empowers you to flourish as the head of the family. Finally, you must continue to pray and confess everything good about your headship inspite of any unpleasant circumstances. You shall have whatever you say….(Mk.11:23).

As the head of your family, you must continue to strive hardest to become and maintain your godly heritage as the godly husbandman. You must walk in the reality of this truth.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, help my unbelief and empower me to trust You steadfastly.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the Spirit of faith to hold onto You at all times.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to speak Your word and not my circumstance all the time.

FAITH CONFESSION

I take my firm stand in God in my journey as the husbandman because that is my guarantee to overcome the temptations and negative challenges of my headship and it puts me in command as the good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
