RECOGNIZE THEIR GIFTINGS

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Gal.2:9, Jn.10:14, Is.61:9, Pro.18:16, Gal.4:19, Jn.14:26, 2Tim.2:6, 1Cor.13:4-8, 1Pet.3:7, Eph.6:4

In fact, James, Peter and John, who were known as pillars of the church, recognize the gift God had given me, and they accepted Barnabas and me and as their co-workers. They encouraged us to keep preaching to the Gentiles, while they continued their work with the Jews (Gal.2:9)

As the husbandman and the shepherd over you’re your wife and children, one of the virtues of your leadership is the ability to recognize their gifts. Consider, Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. Jesus Christ recognized the gifts of His disciples and was able to maximize their potentials. I am the good shepherd and know my sheep and am known of mine (Jn.10:14).

But what does it mean to recognize the gifts of God in the lives of your wife and children and how do you know their giftings?

The gift of your wife and children simply means their talents. It means the things they know how to do excellently and without stress or struggle. It may be singing, writing, teaching, hospitality, cooking, playing musical instruments, etc. You must understand that your wife and children are not without gifts. They are treasures and God has given them hidden treasures. If you recognize them and help them to maximize it, you enjoy the fruits thereof. The husbandman that laboureth shall be first partaker of the fruits (2Tim.2:6).

Therefore, you must see the task of recognizing the gifts in your wife and children as a challenge and partner with God through the Person of the Holy Spirit, to reveal their giftings to you.  I will send the Comforter, who will teach all things and bring to your remembrance all things (Jn.14:26).

But why are the gifts of my wife and children important to me as their shepherd?

Firstly, it creates a large room of opportunity for them and you. For the gift of a man makes room for him (Pro.18:16). When their gifts are recognized and well exploited, it brings them to their wealthy places. Secondly, they become people to be envied and famous. And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles and their offspring among the people. All that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the Lord has blessed (Is.61:9).

As the good and godly husbandman, you must continue to seek the higher place for your wife and children. You must keep working at bringing out the best of God in your wife and children. You must never give up on them no matter their weaknesses. Let this word of God dwell in you richly. I travail until Christ is formed in them (Gal.4:19).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to recognize the gifts in my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to help my wife and children develop their gifts and let it bring glory to Your Name on earth.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to nurture Your gifts in the lives of my wife and children, profitably.

FAITH CONFESSION

I partner with the Person of the Holy Spirit to discover, exploit and trade with the gifts of God in the lives of my wife and children because that is what validates my leadership as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
