YOU MUST LEARN TO DO WELL

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Isaiah 1:16-17

More Scriptures: Phil.4:8, Is.1:19, Jer.29:11

Wash you, plead you, make you clean, put away the evil of your doings from mine eyes, cease to do evil. LEARN TO DO WELL, seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow (Is.1:16-17). Every good husband you see around you today learnt to be good. Did I hear you say good works? Yes, it is. Learning is living. The day you stop learning is the day you start dying. Not every husbandman ever enters into a relationship with his wife and children with absolute knowledge of how to become a good husband. You learn the art.

As the head of your family and the spiritual leader in your family fold, you do not only wish to be good to your flock, you back your desire with definite actions. That is what the Scripture is telling you today-you must learn to do well. I woke up very early one morning before I left for work and cleaned up the house, including washing the dishes before my wife got up. Prior to this day, she had complained of strain on the heel of her foot. She had been standing for several hours for some days, cooking, doing the laundry and keeping the home tidy. I am not blind, and I am also not a slave master. I work on the average of 19 hours daily-praying, writing, reading, and attending to other issues. So, I cannot claim to be very busy not to know how to do well. You are not gifted to do well to your wife and children. You simply decide to do good to them, whether they deserve it or not. God, who made you the head of your family is a good God. He is always thinking good of you as His representative to your flock.

The Scripture has this to say of Him. “For my thoughts towards you are of good and not evil to give you a hope and a future”. Therefore, for you to learn to do well to your flock, you must first think well of them. Honestly, if your thoughts are right, your life and conduct will be right. Your words and actions will always gravitate in the direction of your thought life. Dear husbandmen, hear this truth. YOU MAY NOT BE A PERFECT HUSBAND BUT YOU CAN LEARN AND ACT TO DO WELL.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by Your Spirit, empower me to do what is good and lovely to my flock.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill my heart with godly and lovely thoughts toward my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the Spirit of love and let it gain deep root in my life.

FAITH CONFESSION

I commit to learning how to always do good to my wife and children and in the market places of life because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
