Capsule 27: THE HUSBANDMAN IS A RECOVERY AGENT

And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away and David rescued his two wives. (1Sam.30:8)

Let me start by saying that nothing around the husbandman can be lost, destroyed or stolen. And if anything has been stolen from you, you can recover it all. The story in First Samuel chapter 18 and verse 21 is about David, the husbandman like you and me. He went out on assignment, leaving behind his sheep and sheepfold. By the time he returned from his work, he discovered that the enemy had not only destroyed his sheepfold, but his sheep were also stolen. At a point, he cried and was almost discouraged but immediately he encouraged himself in the Lord. He did not blame anyone because he knew the enemy was responsible for the havoc and damaged done to his sheep and sheepfold. He organized his men, put his arsenal together and pursue the enemy. He did not only pursue the enemy, but he also recovered all that was stolen including his sheep (wife and children).

Now, this is the truth from the Scriptures that you must accept into your spirit. The first is that God does not waste resources (Jn.6:12). The second is that whatever God gives, last forever (Ecc.3:14). The third is that everything God gives is good and perfect (Jas.1:17). Your wife and children are God’s resources. God did not give them to you to waste your life and theirs, rather, He gave them to you to enjoy. Your wife and children are good and perfect, not minding their weaknesses, failures, and inadequacies. You must not accept defeat. You must take back what belongs to you in Jesus.

But what do you need to pursue and recover? The spiritual heritage of your wife and children. Your sheep who once had a burning passion for the things of God have suddenly turn their backs on the word of God and chose the world and its systems. The other is your peace. Your wife and children who used to give you peace of mind by their godly conduct have become a terror in your sheepfold. Thirdly, it is the sweet harmony that you used to enjoy with your sheep. The harmonious relationship you used to have with your sheep has now been filled with hatred and bitterness. Satan is responsible! Don’t let go! Fight to recover all. Let’s read this verse of Scripture together and in faith, recognizing that you are like Christ to your wife and children. And I give unto them eternal life and THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH, NEITHER SHALL ANY MAN PLUCK THEM OUT OF MY HAND. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all, and NO MAN IS ABLE TO PLUCK THEM OUT OF MY FATHER’S HAND. (Jn.10:27-28). Don’t give up! Don’t surrender! Recovery is still possible. Make recovery a reality because that is what makes you the good and godly shepherd.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me understanding of my authority by Your word.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the spirit of faith and courage to pursue.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to pursue, recover and restore all that the enemy has stolen in my life, sheep and sheepfold.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am empowered by the spirit of faith and boldness to recover all that satan, sin and the world have stolen from my sheep and sheepfold because that is what makes me the good and godly shepherd in Jesus name. Amen.
