As the head of the family and the shepherd over your wife and children, you must demonstrate compassion and passion towards their welfare, pains and discomforts. You must feel their pains, their joys and their dreams. The Scriptures say that weep with them that weep and rejoice with them that rejoice (Rom.12:15).

What your wife and children need is much more than the clothes you provide for them or the houses you built for them or the vacations you organize for them. What they need the most from you is mentorship. That is what is more enduring than anything else. And that is exactly what Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of a good and godly husband, tries to teach in Matt.17:14-21.
